HOW TO USE THE BLENDS
HOW TO USE THE BLENDS AND SAFE DIFFUSION PRACTICES:
With my Funerary Aromatherapy Diffuser Blends, intention and energy play a pivotal part in their design, creation and use. They are meant to be used mindfully, purposefully and interactively. Regardless of the method chosen for use in diffusing them, before beginning take a moment to stop, take a few deep breaths, focus and FEEL the energy of the blend and the magic of the plants within to support and be with you. Spend a moment in the feeling of love, gratitude and oneness nature offers us and let the blend know how you need it to assist you. When you’re ready, proceed with it’s use.
In an aromatherapy context, put simply, diffusion is the process of distributing essential oils into the air. There are many ways of creating diffusion (passive and active diffusion, if you will) and many different types of diffusers to do it.
For the purposes my Funerary Aromatherapy Diffuser Blends have been created for, some methods of diffusion may be more useful and appropriate than others.
PASSIVE DIFFUSION: Done by allowing normal evaporation to release the oil molecules into the air and a simple and nonintrusive way to experience the blend’s energy, effects and scent. A good choice for individuals who are dying (whether from medications or from the dying process itself, senses can become heightened and it is important not to overwhelm) and those who may generally be sensitive to scent or in any scenario where LESS IS MORE.
Some passive diffusion methods suitable for these circumstances are:
- A little of the blend on a tissue, scarf or other piece of fabric placed in the vicinity of the ones affected. In a pinch, the blend can even be inhaled in the bottle but remember that some might find that far too strong.
- A clay (even a tiny terra cotta pot can be used) or stone diffuser with a few drops on it.
- When suitable, an aromatherapy scent locket with a few drops of the blend can be worn.
ACTIVE DIFFUSION: Done by using an action to speed up the delivery and volume of molecules released into the air faster and more efficiently then normal evaporation alone would do. More active methods can be used for diffusion in larger spaces where an individual is dying, in homes for grief, at memorials or funerals, etc. Again, when active diffusion methods are used with the dying, remember that LESS IS MORE and diffuse accordingly.
Some active diffusion methods suitable for these circumstances are:
- Ultrasonic (water) diffusers (follow usage directions for your specific diffuser on amounts and diffuse for up to 30 minutes on, then 30 minutes or more off and repeating to help prevent nose-fatigue, etc).
- Small plug-in or battery operated fan diffusers.
- Candle diffusers (only when safe to do so).
- A re-purposed light bulb wax melter (if quickly diffusing scent is your primary goal) can be used by replacing the wax melts with a couple of TBSPs of coarse himalayan pink salt and a few drops of the blend.
*** Always keep blends and diffusers safely away from children and pets and allow fresh air to circulate if it becomes too much. Remember LESS CAN BE MORE! If any adverse reaction is suspected, stop use immediately and seek help if necessary. These blends have been specifically designed for diffusion purposes ONLY and are NOT intended or recommended for topical use or for oral ingestion. When actively diffusing outside of a private space, please make sure to seek permission when necessary and respect any public policies and preferences regarding scent.
